How we check what AI tools do with your data
Official sources only, every answer quoted and dated, and every answer checked a second time.
Where do the answers come from?
Only from the vendor itself: its terms, privacy policy, DPA, help centre, trust centre and pricing page, or a document the vendor links from its own site. For the Data Privacy Framework we search the official list at dataprivacyframework.gov. No reviews, news or forums.
When two official pages of a vendor differ, the governing one answers: first the binding agreement for that plan, then the privacy policy, then help and trust-centre articles. Marketing pages count only as a vendor statement.
How is each answer checked?
First, a copy of the source page is saved and the answer recorded with a short quote, the exact place on the page and the date. A separate second check then re-reads every training and switch-off answer, every quote and the plan names, and corrects what is wrong. Only answers that passed both checks are published.
Pages were read from Germany, in a browser or as a plain page fetch, so prices and plans are the ones shown to a German business.
What do the statuses mean?
Checked: the vendor's own binding or official page says it, quoted. Vendor says: only a marketing page or a statement says it. Not stated: we looked and the vendor doesn't say. Couldn't read: the page needs a browser we couldn't use; it will be read in the next pass.
Which tools get their own page?
A tool gets its own page when its training answer is known and at least 7 of its 11 answers are checked or vendor statements. The other tools are listed with their full answers on their category page, and move up as more answers are found.
How do I report a change or a mistake?
Email hello@yardwork.dev with the tool, the page and what changed. We re-read the source, correct the answer and update its date.
Can I reuse the data?
Yes. The dataset is published under CC BY 4.0: you can copy, share and build on it, including commercially, as long as you credit Yardwork and link to this page.
