Can we not just install it ourselves?

You can - it is free and installing it is quick. The work is in the boundaries: which jobs it may finish alone, which it must bring back, and what it may never touch. Hermes is built to act while nobody is watching, which is the reason to want it and also the reason a loose setup takes a while to show itself - it looks fine right up until the week it does the wrong thing forty times. We set those lines with you and tighten them over the first weeks.

What does it cost to keep running?

Less than most expect. On rented hosting it sleeps when nothing is happening, so a small server runs to a few euros a month for a typical workload. On your own hardware it costs more up front and almost nothing after. The AI is the other line, billed by whichever provider you choose, or nothing per message if you run one locally.

Which AI does it think with?

Accepted Answer

Whichever you prefer. It works with Nous Research's own service, with a direct account at a provider you already use, or with an AI running on your own hardware. We help you choose on the first call based on what the work needs and how private it is, and it can be swapped later without rebuilding anything.

Can it work without an internet connection?

Accepted Answer

Yes, if the AI runs on your own hardware. Set up that way it keeps working with the network unplugged, and nothing about your work leaves the building at any point. That costs more in hardware and is worth it for firms handling client material under an agreement. For everything else a provider account is simpler and cheaper.

Will it run on Windows?

Accepted Answer

Yes - Mac, Windows and Linux are all supported. What matters more is that it lives somewhere that stays switched on, since the whole point is that it works while you are elsewhere. A laptop that travels with you is the wrong home for it; a spare office machine or a small rented server is the right one.

How does it get better at our work?

When you correct something, it writes the correction down and reaches for it next time rather than waiting to be told again. In week one you correct nearly everything. By month one the routine jobs run clean. By month three it handles the awkward cases it used to bring you. That accumulation is the reason to pick Hermes over something you have to brief every morning.

Can it do more than one job?

Yes. It runs several at once, and separate agents can hand work between them in a group chat, each with its own job and its own access. Most people start with one job, get it right, then add the next once they trust what they are seeing.

What happens to what it has learned if we leave?

It stays with you. What it wrote down lives on your hardware in an open format, alongside its memory of how your work is done, so it is readable and portable rather than locked in a service. The software is open too, so nothing switches off and there is no licence for anyone to withdraw.
